Recycling & Sustainability

As an increasing population consumes more and more of the earth’s natural resources there will come a time – sooner rather than later – when demand will outstrip the supply of natural resources. This global picture can be broken down into continents, countries, regions, communities and even individuals.

In order for this planet to sustain life indefinitely all elements, however small, must be encouraged to achieve a balance between what is consumed and what natural supply can be sustained.

The Paper Trail’s Frogmore Mill has long been a champion of recycling – for over 110 years to be precise (that’s how long Frogmore has been making paper from recycled waste). So we take sustainable development very seriously.

The Paper Trail’s aim is to educate, encourage and develop ways of achieving a sustainable balance of natural resources on scales ranging from the local community right the way through to international businesses. Together with our partners we are engaged in a number of initiatives including:

  • Developing alternative technologies employing renewable resources
  • Creating a centre for demonstrating sustainable technologies
  • Generating education and training materials and techniques for in-house and off-site courses as well as distance learning
  • Maintaining an exemplar of industrial scale recycling of waste paper
  • Investgating and applying renewable energy sources
  • Applying sustainable principles to all our new building development
