Letterpress courses

Letterpress course
We offer a short half day letterpress course for people who want to try their hand at assembling type and printing their work.
This is a practical course limited to 3 people using Adana 8x5s. The programme may be of interest to those who have recently acquired an Adana printing machine or considering buying a used press.

The tutors are a journeyman compositor and a journeyman printer.

Content:

Layout of a standard type case, setting the stick, assembling type to match a given copy, transfer to a galley, locking up in a chase.

Inking an Adana 8x5, taking a proof, adjusting the lays and gripper, cleaning and maintaining the press.

Next Course
Our next course is Sunday 26th May.

Poster printing
Participants will create example jobs using metal and wood type, and print their work using a Sofadi poster press and an Adana Quarto.
